To crown a season enriched by many important results, Lucia Bramati and Giorgia Pellizotti have earned a call-up to the MTB World Championships, scheduled from Tuesday 9th to Sunday 14th September in Valais, Switzerland.
«For the girls and the team, this is a huge satisfaction, which repays the squad's efforts but above all rewards the consistency, talent, and dedication of Lucia and Giorgia», says Luca Bramati, Trinx Factory Team’s team manager. "It was precisely their consistency that I liked the most: they were able to restart with renewed energy after the cyclo-cross season, proving immediately competitive but also managing to reach their best shape at the most important moment of the season».
The manager's thoughts also goes to those who dreamed of wearing the national team jersey.
«It's a shame for Sverre Van Lee, who until the very end was thought to be one of the Belgians called up; however, Sverre is young and will have a chance to make up for it. The same for the U19s Pietro Cao: for how much he improved during the season and for what he showed at the European Championships, I think he would have deserved a chance».
Chance for Lucia Bramati, back to the World Championships two years after Glasgow 2023.
«Being at the World Championships was one of the most important goals of the season; but now it’s time to do our best to obtain the best result possible», relaunches the 22-year-old athlete(in the photo by Maxime Schmid), who will compete among the Under 23s. «For the first time,I prepared for the event by going to Livigno for three weeks. I'm still getting used to the altitude, but the feelings in the short track last Friday in Les Gets and on Sunday in the final laps of the XCO push up my hopes».
At the World Championships, Lucia will have a double commitment: on Tuesday 9th at 3:30pm the Xcc specialty, on Sunday 14th at 10:30 am the Olympic Cross Country.
Only one world championship event, but one that is worth a lot, for the U19 Giorgia Pellizotti (in the photo by Maxime Schmid), who will be competing on Friday 12th September at 3pm in the Xco specialty.
«At the beginning of the year, the World Cup was a dream, but after the European Championship it became a concrete target:I wanted to live again an international experience like the one in Portugal»,confides the Italian U19s champion, in her first season in the category. «If someone had told me at the beginning of 2025 that I would achieve all these results, I wouldn't have believed it. Now there's only one piece missing, perhaps the most impressive one».
On a track that will put athletes, especially the younger ones, under pressure.
«It looks like it's going to be a technical course, and if it will rain it could become even more tricky», Giorgia confirms. «But for me it's better this way, not only because I don't like the heat, but because racing on highly difficult tracks is essential for my growth. Doing it at the World Championships will be even more formative».
